Why Jazz?

Jazz is a uniquely American art form. Brother to the blues, mother to rock 'n' roll it's at
the very foundation of American music and the soundtrack for the country's last 100 years of history. Having absorbed influences from all over the world it has in turn influenced everything from European classical music to Afro-Pop. One of our most valuable exports, jazz is truly America's classical music.

Music education makes important contributions to every young person's development. The skills and discipline required to play an instrument are reflected in a student's overall performance. Studies show that music students have better grades, often

excel at math and have better study habits than non-music students. But music departments are often the first to suffer as school budgets are cut back. Jazz Montana wants to support music programs in every way it can. And we want you to join us.
